Only four rounds had been played before the league was suspended following President Uhuru Kenyatta's directive.

Local basketball enthusiasts and stakeholders can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) has finally released fixtures for the resumption of the league that was suspended in March.

The last league action was on March 21 before a presidential directive saw all sporting activities stopped until May 1. After the ban was lifted, the Ministry of Sports gave return-to-action guidelines two weeks later.

In their statement, the Ministry of Sports directed that all federations were to wholesomely test all players at their costs with further guidelines to strictly lock out fans from their activities. The federations had also been ordered to submit weekly returns of covid-19 tests carried on active athletes.

KBF had arranged for its members to be vaccinated in April when other sporting disciplines underwent a similar exercise at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. However, none of the vaccinated athletes and officials has completed the required dosage for the AstraZeneca vaccine as the second round of vaccination is yet to begin.

Fixtures seen by Mozzart Sport indicate that the league will resume on June 5 with five matches in the top tier league lined up. The venue of the matches has also been moved to the University of Nairobi (UoN) grounds

Strathmore University Swords open the weekend action with a clash against Storms while Evelyne Kedogo-coached Eagle Wings will be in action for their season-opening match against holders Equity Bank.

The men's league will see hosts UoN Terror take on Umoja while Kenya College of Accountancy-University (KCA-U) play Eldonets. Equity men take on Thunder in the final match of the opening day.
